39 encroachers given seven more days to vacate pond land in Bareilly
MEERUT, Oct. 26 -- The Bareilly Municipal Corporation has given a final seven-day extension to 39 residents who built illegal houses on pond land in Delapeer and Maheshpur Thakuran. Only one person, Sunil, vacated his house after previous eviction notices, while the others continue to occupy the land. Officials said the municipal corporation had issued notices on October 10, ordering illegal occupants to vacate within 15 days. The deadline expired without compliance, prompting the extension.
Municipal commissioner Sanjeev Kumar Maurya stated, "No person has submitted any representation or reply. We have now given them an additional seven days. If they fail to vacate, the corporation will seek a magistrate's appointment from the district administration and proceed with police assistance." Meanwhile, several encroachers have visited the chief minister's office, claiming long-term residence and poverty, and submitted a memorandum hoping for relief or reconsideration of eviction orders.
