VARANASI, Nov. 11 -- As many as 37 villagers were arrested for attacking a police team and staging a violent protests, road blockade in Sultanpur village under Ramnagar Police station area of Varanasi during intervening night of Sunday and Monday, police said on Monday. Confirming the incident, assistant commissioner of police (Kotwali) Atul Anjan Tripathi said that a group of villagers staged a road blockade to protest against the water crisis. A police team reached the spot and tried to pacify them, but the situation turned violent as the villagers attacked the police personnel and vandalised a government vehicle, leaving several officers injured. Thereafter, a case was registered under sections 191(2), 190, 221,223, 121(2), 125, 132, 126(2),352, 351(2), 324(4), 109(1), 46 BNS and section 07 CLA Act at Police Station Ramnagar, he said, adding that the police teams were pressed into action and 37 arrested for attacking the police and staging violent protest....
