LUCKNOW, July 24 -- Around 325 shuttlers from all parts of the state would be seen in action in the UP State Under-19 Junior Major Badminton Championship, beginning Thursday, at the Uttar Pradesh Badminton Academy here. The three-day championship, which offers Rs 1 lakh as prize money, is the selection tournament to pick the UP team for the East Zone Championship, scheduled to be played in Jharkhand. Organising secretary, Anil Dhyani states that 300-325 boys/girls from across the state have confirmed their participation in singles, doubles, and mixed doubles. All players should contact referee Ravindra Chauhan at 8:30 a.m on Thursday as the matches start at 9.00 a.m. As many as four people from Uttar Pradesh, including Lucknow District Athletics Association's secretary BR Varun, have been selected as technical officials for the upcoming World Athletics Continental Tour Bronze event, scheduled to be held in Bhubaneswar (Odisha) on August 10. According to a letter issued by Athletics Federation of India's secretary Sandeep Mehta, around 50 technical officials have been selected from across India for the successful organization of the competition. This list includes BR Varun from Lucknow, along with Rajan Bhatia, Siddharth Krishna and Dinesh Singh Bhadauria from Uttar Pradesh. These technical officials will play an important role in the smooth conduct of the competition and in making it as per global standards. In the past too, BR Varun has successfully discharged technical responsibilities in many national and state level competitions including international tournaments held in Brunei, South Korea and Malaysia. Young Sachin scored a brace as Yuva Club defeated Aero Club by 3-1 in the District Football League-2025, at the Chowk Stadium here on Wednesday. Sachin scored in the 40th, and 52rd minute, whereas Annu shot one in the 62nd minute. For Lucknow Aero Club, Abhishek scored the consolation goal in the 68th minute. The second match between Techtro Lucknow Reserve and New Boys Club ended in a 1-1 draw. Wangkhem scored in the 20th minute for Techtro Lucknow Reserve, whereas Karan struck the equalizer in the 65th minute....
