321 kg suspected adulterated food seized in Lucknow
LUCKNOW, Oct. 13 -- In a continued effort to curb the sale of adulterated food products during the festive season, the Food Safety and Drug Administration (FSDA) has intensified enforcement operations across the city. As part of the drive, officials inspected various establishments and collected 14 samples of suspected food items for laboratory testing.
The campaign focused on products commonly consumed during festivals - including khoya, paneer, milk-based sweets, namkeen, edible oils, ghee, and artificially coloured sugary treats - to prevent the sale of substandard or adulterated goods posing health risks to consumers. Under this operation, 321 kg of food items worth Rs.73,880 were seized from different parts of Lucknow.
These businesses were issued improvement notices and warned to take corrective action.
All 14 samples have been sent to the state laboratory for testing, said FSDA deputy commissioner V.P. Singh. He added that further legal action will follow upon receipt of the lab reports under the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006. htc...
