302 Musahar families in Vns to get livelihood training under UPSRLM
VARANASI, May 10 -- Members of 302 Musahar families, a nomadic tribe, in Varanasi will be imparted training in dona pattal (leaf plate/bowl) making and mustard oil extraction to connect them with a permanent source of livelihood under the Uttar Pradesh State Rural Livelihood Mission (UPSRLM).
District administration has taken an initiative to connect 302 Musahar families of Varanasi district with permanent livelihood. For it, an MoU was signed between UPSRLM, Varanasi, and Northern Coalfields Limited, Singrauli.
In the presence of chief development officer (CDO) Himanshu Nagpal, deputy commissioner (self-employment), Varanasi, and Pawan Kumar Singh of Uttar Pradesh State Livelihood Mission, the general manager, Northern Coalfields Limited, Rajiv Ranjan signed the MoU recently.
Under the MoU, a total of Rs 3.91 crore will be made available by the Northern Coalfields Limited, Singrauli, through the CSR fund to link Musahar families with employment and increase their income.
According to Himanshu Nagpal, a survey was conducted among the families of the Musahar community to know the work they want to do.
Nagpal said under the initiative, Musahar families will be imparted training in incense stick making, dona pattal making, oil mill, and goat rearing by experts and the Rural Self Employment Training Institute (RSETI) here.
After the training, one unit of oil mill and 25 units of dona pattal making will be installed in villages in eight development blocks of the district so that these people can earn their livelihood after the training, said Nagpal, adding that all these machines will be solarised....
