LUCKNOW, Sept. 4 -- Lucknow Development Authority (LDA) will develop a 300-acre logistics park and transport city as part of its Varun Vihar scheme along the Agra Expressway. The project will also create more than 15,000 residential, commercial and group housing plots, promising both housing and employment opportunities for a large population in the state capital. LDA vice-chairman Prathamesh Kumar inspected the scheme on Wednesday and directed officials to expedite land acquisition. According to the plan, Varun Vihar will spread over 5,610 acres and benefit more than three lakh people with modern residential facilities. The scheme covers several villages, including Bhalia, Adampur Indwara, Bahru, Jaliyamau, Madarpur, Ibrahimganj, Nakataura, Gehlwara, Tejkrishna Kheda, Revari, Sakra and Dona, falling under Sadar and Sarojininagar tehsils, an LDA release read. LDA officials said the project will also boost industrial, health, education and logistics infrastructure in Lucknow, besides attracting large-scale investment and creating significant employment opportunities. Renovation of Motijheel, also known as Jamuna Lake, will soon begin at a cost of Rs.7 crore, with fencing and de-silting planned for all major lakes in the city.
