30,000 scouts, one city: state capital hosts mega Jamboree
India, Dec. 31 -- Lucknow hosted the week-long 19th National Jamboree of Bharat Scouts and Guides between November 23 and 29. The event saw around 30,000 candidates from across India and nearly 2,000 participants from Asia-Pacific countries. This was the first time Lucknow hosted the mega event, which returned to Uttar Pradesh after 61 years. The last Jamboree in the state was held in Prayagraj in 1964. President Droupadi Murmu attended the closing ceremony on November 28. A large tent city with 3,500 tents was set up at the Defence Expo Ground in Vrindavan Colony, which accommodated about 32,000 participants and 3,000 staff members within a 300-acre protected area. A temporary outdoor stadium with 30,000 seats was built for various sports events. Other facilities included a 100-bed hospital, 15 dispensaries, dozens of ambulances and a 24-hour control room. The main arena stadium, spread across about one million square feet, had 12 entrances, 11 LED screens and a VVIP gallery with five German hangars. And many rate it as the best ever organisation of the jamboree in the country....
