Lucknow, Aug. 9 -- Uttar Pradesh basic education minister Sandeep Singh attacked Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav and said that before 2017, the education system of the state was a victim of appeasement, nepotism, copying mafia and negligence, while the BJP government has worked to change it with transparency, investment and thinking. He showed a newspaper cutting of 2015 to the SP chief and said that 3.45 crore children were away from school during the rule of SP. Sandeep Singh said that "Ever since the BJP came, studies have come alive!" Singh said that between 2012 and 2017, not a single model school was built in the Akhilesh government, which the state could proudly show. At the same time, the BJP government worked continuously on education reform efforts after 2017. Under 'Operation Kayakalp', 19 basic facilities were provided to council schools at a cost of more than Rs. 11,500 crore, which include drinking water, toilets, blackboards, furniture, electricity, and strengthening of classrooms. He said that while the number of children was decreasing during the SP government, the BJP government stopped this trend and in this year's School Chalo Abhiyan, more than 27 lakh children were enrolled in council schools.Construction of model composite and residential schoolsThe minister said that two Chief Minister Model Composite Schools are being built in every district. The cost of each school is Rs.30 crore. These will have a modern education system from KG to 12th in accordance with the New Education Policy 2020. Similarly, Atal Residential Schools have been started in all 18 divisions, in which more than 18,000 workers and orphan children are being provided free residential education, food, sports and skill development facilities. Not only this, 1,722 schools of UP (1565 council, 157 secondary) are being equipped with smart classes, ICT labs, digital libraries, sports material and project based learning under PM Shri Schools. At the same time, ICT lab, smart class, computer lab, toilet block and dormitory have been arranged in 746 Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas. Both ASER 2024 and PARAKH national Survey 2024 have recognised the improvement in the education sector of UP. According to the report, the performance of Class 3 students is better than the national average. Transparency of attendance of teachers and students and resources is being ensured through digital monitoring.
