Dehradun, June 20 -- Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Thursday ordered the suspension of three officials of Uttarakhand Power Corporation Limited (UPCL) officials over the electrocution of 30-year-old contract lineman while working on a power line in Pauri district on Tuesday. According to UPCL officials, acting swiftly on the complaint lodged by local MLA Mahant Dalip Singh Rawat, Dhami ordered the suspension of sub-divisional officer Chandra Mohan, junior engineer Shubham Kumar and executive engineer Vineet Kumar Saxena. All three officials were suspended with immediate effect. Emphasising on the importance of safety in electrical operations, CM Dhami instructed officials to ensure all necessary protective equipment is available at work sites. "Workers handling high-risk tasks, especially involving fire or sharp tools, must be equipped with helmets, gloves, safety belts, and insulated tools", Dhami said. He has also ordered UPCL senior officials to submit a detailed clarification, outlining the current availability of safety equipment within the department and whether these are being effectively supplied to on-ground workers. "Life and safety of every worker is of utmost importance and any lapse in this regard will not be forgiven," Dhami said....
