3 police teams formed in doctor assault case
Haridwar, May 31 -- The Haridwar police have formed three dedicated teams to track down the two unidentified men who assaulted a doctor and his wife at a private hospital in Laksar, officials said on Friday.
According to police, senior superintendent of police (SSP) Pramendra Dobhal has assigned three units, including members of the local police and the Crime Investigation Unit (CIU), to investigate the case from multiple angles-ranging from manual investigation and forensic evidence to mobile surveillance and targeted raids.
"We are analysing CCTV footage and have circulated images to police stations across the district as well as border areas of Uttar Pradesh," said Rajeev Rauthan, station house officer (SHO) of Laksar.
"We've received some vital leads and are confident the accused will be apprehended soon," he said
The incident occurred on Tuesday morning at Aryan Hospital, located on the Laksar-Roorkee Road, when two unidentified individuals forcefully entered the hospital premises and attacked Dr Babu Ram Arya (57), the owner of the hospital.
According to police, the doctor sustained serious injuries after the assailants hit him on the head with a blunt object and an attempt was made to strangulate him.
Dr Arya's wife, who was present at the time, raised an alarm upon hearing the commotion. Her calls for help alerted hospital staff, prompting the assailants to flee the scene.
A case has been registered against the two accused under relevant sections pertaining to attempt to murder, criminal trespass, and causing grievous hurt at Laksar police station. So far, the identities of the accused remain unknown....
