3 injured as man drives into crowd after road rage
LUCKNOW, Nov. 30 -- Three people received minor injuries when a rashly driven car struck a crowd following a road rage in Lucknow's Banthra on Saturday, police said.
While one of the injured is a school teacher in Sarojininagar, the other two are residents of Banthra. They were rushed to a nearby private hospital, which discharged them after primary treatment.
Banthra station house officer Rana Rajesh Singh said the road rage between the drivers of the car and an autorickshaw stemmed from an overtaking dispute.
Police officials, quoting eyewitnesses, said the argument between the two drivers quickly escalated after which the car driver assaulted the auto driver.
When locals stepped in to break up the fight, the accused allegedly attacked them as well. As more people gathered, he rushed back into his car and, without warning, drove straight into the crowd.
Locals managed to stop him by throwing stones and bricks. The driver, however, abandoned his car and escaped on foot through nearby lanes.
The SHO said the car had been seized, and a case was registered based on the teacher's complaint. The driver, however, was yet to be arrested....
