3 held for applying ink on minister's poster
PRAYAGRAJ, July 14 -- The Civil Lines police here on Sunday arrested three of the five named accused who had allegedly applied black ink on a photograph of Union education minister Dharmendra Pradhan at a banner at Subhash Chowk on Saturday evening as they opposed the merger of primary schools in Uttar Pradesh.
The five accused, associated with Samajwadi Chhatra Sabha, include Samajwadi Chhatra Sabha district president Shiva Kesarwani, and members Saddam, Ayush Priyadarshi, Atul Sarkar and one other who could not be identified.
"Of them, Shiva Kesarwani, Saddam and Ayush Priyadarshi have been arrested," said Civil Lines police station SHO Ramashrya Yadav who also confirmed that the police had registered an FIR against them.
He refuted the allegation of local SP leader Sandeep Yadav that the police initially brought the parents of the accused to the police station to mount pressure on them....
