3 friends, including Army man, killed in motorcycle crash
LUCKNOW, Nov. 23 -- Three friends, including an Army soldier who had returned home on leave only a few hours earlier, were killed in a road accident late Friday night when their speeding motorcycle slammed into a parked truck on the Amethi-Sultanpur Road near Thoura village in the Peeparpur police station area of Amethi district, police said on Saturday.
The victims were identified as Utkarsh Singh (32), a soldier posted in Kashmir; Bajrang Singh (25); and Anshu Singh (29). All three were returning home from a wedding ceremony in Haripur village around midnight when the accident occurred.
According to villagers, the trio had attended the wedding of their friend Heeralal and left for home around 11 pm.
Police said the bike was moving at nearly 100 kmph when the rider suddenly applied brakes after noticing a stationary truck. Unable to stop in time, the bike crashed straight into the vehicle.
A senior police official said the impact was so severe that the youths were flung nearly 10 feet onto the road. Two of them-Utkarsh and Bajrang-died on the spot, while Anshu succumbed to his injuries at the hospital. None of the three were wearing helmets, he confirmed....
