3 die in Badaun road mishap
MEERUT, June 13 -- Three youths were killed after an unidentified vehicle hit the motorcycle the trio were riding near Sultanpur village in Uttar Pradesh's Badaun district late on Wednesday evening, police said.
The victims identified as Lokesh, 22, Umesh, 19, and Neeraj, 17, who were friends and hailed from Sukhra village, were returning home after helping two of them get admission in an intermediate college when the mishap occurred, they added.
None of them were wearing helmets, they said. The police said the accident, which occurred in Sahaswan Kotwali area, was so severe that the victims, along with their bike, were dragged several metres across the road. Inspector Rajendra Bahadur rushed to the scene and got the victims transported to the nearby community health centre where doctors declared all three dead on arrival.
"The post-mortem report confirmed the death of three youths due to head injuries. CCTV cameras in the area are being examined to ascertain the exact cause of the accident. We are trying to identify the vehicle involved in the hit-and-run," inspector Rajendra Bahadur said....
