3 crushed by SUV after being assaulted overproperty row; 1 dead
AYODHYA, May 21 -- The Ayodhya police are on the lookout for the SUV driver and his associates who allegedly mowed down three youths, killing one of them, in Rampur Halwara village on Sunday following a property related dispute. The accused first attacked the victims with iron rods and then repeatedly crushed them under the wheels of the vehicle before fleeing, said police.
Villagers arrived on the spot hearing gunfire, prompting the attackers to flee. The police took the three youths to the Ayodhya district hospital, where doctors declared Nikhil , 26, dead. The two injured, Kunal and Nitesh, were referred to Lucknow's King George's Medical University.
Police said the three youths had a dispute with the attackers over commission related to land deals, which led to the attack. They filed a case against eight people and arrested one suspect. Manoj Sharma, SHO, Ayodhya, said various police teams were conducting raids to nab the accused.
According to the police, Nikhil of Sonesa village went to Rampur Halwara village near Ayodhya town along with his two companions, Kunal and Nitesh, to discuss an outstanding payment related to an old land deal with Hanuman and Mohan.
During the discussion, Hanuman and Mohan refused to pay the money, which this led to a fight between the two parties. Subsequently, Hanuman, along with Mohan, Ramjanm, Rajan, Rohit, and 3-4 others, started beating up the three youths. They used sticks, clubs, and iron rods to assault them.
