3 arrested for attacking UP police team in Haridwar, 5 absconding
Haridwar, Feb. 6 -- Three people were arrested in connection with the violent attack on a police team from Uttar Pradesh, that left two personnel including a woman constable injured, after they nabbed an accused in Jwalapur, police said on Thursday.
According to police, a team of UP police nabbed Sanjay Pal, an accused of fraud on Wednesday, following which Pal's son Ishant along with his accomplices confronted and hit a police vehicle with their SUVs.
A police officer familiar with the matter said that two UP police personnel including a woman constable sustained injuries as accused deliberately hit the police vehicle multiple times at Haridwar-Roo- rkee highway and also threatened dire consequences if the police team didn't free Sanjay.
Senior sub-inspector Jwalapur police station Khemendra Gangwar said: "Police have arrested Ishant, son of Sanjay, Shivam Malik and Aman Kumar all residents of Subhash Nagar, Jwalapur late Wednesday. Later a case was registered against the three along with five other accomplices, who were absconding. Police teams are conducting raids to trace the five people on the run."
The case has been registered against the accused under 109(1) (attempt to murder), 121(1)(voluntarily causing hurt), 132(criminal force used to deter public servant from discharging duty), 191(2)(rioting), 324(4)(mischief and causing damage), 351(2)(cri- minal intimidation), 352(intentional insult with breach of peace) and 61(2)(criminal conspiracy) at Jwalapur police station....
