27-yr-old man released on bail found dead, kin allege murder
MEERUT, April 29 -- A 27-year-old man was found shot dead inside Ambedkar Bhawan in the Sival Khas area under Jani police station limits on Monday morning, said police, adding that the deceased had been released on bail in a murder case only 19 days earlier.
The body of the deceased, identified as Kishori, was found with a bullet wound to the head, triggering widespread anger among local residents and family members.
According to the family members of the decreased, Kishori had left home in the morning to buy milk but did not return, following which, the kin, along with some villagers launched a search and eventually found his body at Ambedkar Bhawan.
After being alerted, local police rushed to the scene. However, the family and villagers resisted efforts to send the body for postmortem and alleged that unidentified individuals had committed a deliberate murder. Demanding immediate action against the accused, they refused to allow the body to be moved, resulting in a standoff with the authorities.
Only after the intervention of deputy superintendent of police (DSP) Sanjay Kumar Jaiswal and other senior officials - who assured strict action - the agitated crowd relented. Following their assurance, the police were able to take custody of the body and send it for postmortem examination.
Police investigation revealed that a few months earlier, a youth was found dead under suspicious circumstances, and Kishori had been named as an accused, leading to his imprisonment. He was released on bail 19 days ago, on April 9.
Local villagers claim that ever since his return, Kishori had been receiving death threats from the deceased's relatives.
DSP Jaiswal stated, "A detailed and thorough investigation is being carried out from all angles. On basis of the complaint received, an FIR will be registered.
A police team has been deployed in the area to main law and order"...
