26 nursing students fall sick due to food poisoning
LUCKNOW, April 30 -- As many as 26 students of a nursing college were rushed to a hospital after they developed symptoms of severe food poisoning on Monday afternoon, as per an official statement. While 19 of them were treated at the outpatient department of Max Hospital, seven were hospitalised for treatment of dehydration, it added.
All 26 are students of Sahara Nursing College, located on the premises of Max Hospital here. More than 200 people are said to have had the same meal as the 26 students who fell sick.
According to the statement issued by the principal of Sahara Nursing College, Rossily Nirmal, the students were supposed to be discharged by Tuesday evening. It added, "The hospital has sent food and water samples for testing to ascertain the cause of this incident."
As soon as the students reported feeling unwell, the college authorities arranged for them to be taken to the Max Hospital OPD, where necessary medication was provided to them, and the seven students with severe symptoms of dehydration were taken to the emergency unit.
The college administration was investigating whether the students had consumed street food recently....
