240 state board toppers picked for tour: Dhami
Dehradun, Dec. 9 -- Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Monday formally flagged off the "Bharat Darshan Educational Tour"- an initiative aimed at facilitating trips around the country for a select group of 240 students- all State Board toppers in the 2025 examinations.
The students will travel to notable sites showcasing scientific, cultural and historical significance in the country in separate groups, said Dhami. In the initiative's first phase, which was conducted in 2024-25, 156 students visited leading scientific and technical institutions across the country. The travel itinerary includes places such as the Indian Space Research Organisation (Isro), the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota, the UR Rao Satellite Centre and the Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre.
Addressing the event at SCERT Nanur Khera, the chief minister said the tour offers talented students an opportunity to witness India's progress in science, technology, history and culture firsthand.
He urged the students to document their experiences in travel diaries, noting innovations and first-time achievements from Uttarakhand. The travel diaries would be judged and used as the basis for laurels to two students with the best diaries, he added.
Dhami said Uttarakhand lead other states by example with the implementation of Uniform Civil Code (UCC) and enforcing a strict anti-cheating law for the first time in the country.
The state, he added, ranked first in achieving Sustainable Development Goals, and its tableau secured the top position in the 2023 Parade on the Path of Duty....
