Dehradun, July 25 -- A 24-year-old man, alleged to be an interstate weapons smuggler, has been arrested in Rudrapur and eight illegal automatic pistols and magazines were recovered from his possession, police said, adding that it was a joint operation by the special task force (STF) of Uttarakhand police and Udham Singh Nagar police. Senior superintendent of police (SSP) of STF Navneet Singh Bhullar said, "A team led by Inspector MP Singh, under the supervision of DSP RB Chamola, arrested the accused, Khajan Singh, a resident of Baghwala in Rudrapur, from Rudrapur on Wednesday late night in a joint operation with US Nagar police." He further said that Singh has been booked under Arms Act. "Singh had previously served jail time in cases related to robbery and arms smuggling. He was sourcing weapons from an arms supplier named Sartaj in Burhanpur, Madhya Pradesh. He, along with his associates, had been supplying illegal semi-automatic pistols to Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand for the past several years. During interrogation, Singh revealed details of four other members of the racket. We are trying to nab them," Bhullar said....
