22-year-old woman found murdered in Varanasi dhaba room
VARANASI, July 4 -- A 22-year-old woman was found murdered in a room at Vidhan Basera Dhaba along the National Highway in Rupapur, under the Mirzamurad police station area of Varanasi, on Wednesday. Police recovered a blood-stained vegetable-cutting knife near the body. According to police, the deceased was identified as Alka Bind, a student of MSc (Previous Year). She was a resident of Mehndiganj village under the Mirzamurad police station. Her father, Chandrashekhar, is a farmer.
Later police have arrested the accused identified as Sahab Bind.
A police officer stated that her family said Alka left home with her bag around 9 am, saying she was going to take an exam at a PG college in Khochhawa. When she didn't return by noon, her father tried calling her, but her phone was found switched off.
Concerned, he went to the college to inquire and found that no examination was scheduled that day. Suspecting something was wrong, he rushed to the Mirzamurad police station and reported her missing.Around the same time, police received information about a young woman's body found in a room at Vidhan Basera Dhaba in Rupapur. Chandrashekhar accompanied police to the spot and identified the body as his daughter Alka.
Upon inquiry, Dhaba owner Pragat Narayan Singh told police that a young man, believed to be in his early twenties, arrived at the dhaba around 9 a.m. by auto-rickshaw. Shortly after, a young woman also arrived by auto. The two went to a room located behind the dhaba and stayed there until the afternoon.
Staff were unaware of when the man left. Around 4 p.m., assuming the room was vacant, employees went to clean it and found the woman's body soaked in blood. Police were immediately informed.Deputy commissioner of police (DCP), Gomti Zone, Akash Patel said the woman's mobile phone was recovered from the room and the body was sent for post-mortem examination.
Following the post-mortem, the body was handed over to the family on Thursday. Later, her relatives and local residents staged a roadblock demanding the arrest of the accused.
Based on a complaint filed by Chandrashekhar Bind, Alka's father, police registered a case under Section 103(1) of the BNS against three individuals: dhaba owner Pragat Narayan Singh, the dhaba manager (unnamed), and an unidentified person.
Commissioner of police Mohit Agarwal and additional commissioner of police Shiv Hari Meena also visited the crime scene. The CP stated that eight police teams have been deployed to track down and arrest the accused.
