22-year-old man shot dead in Meerut, FIR against five
MEERUT, June 18 -- A 22-year-old man was shot dead in a suspected targeted attack late Monday night outside a private hospital near Hapur Adda in Meerut's Nauchandi area, following a heated argument. The incident occurred around 11:30 pm, said police on Tuesday.
The deceased, identified as Mohd Junaid, a resident of the Meenara Masjid locality in Lisari Gate, was employed in a textile weaving industry. He was returning from the Nauchandi fair with his cousin, Salim, when the attack occurred. According to Salim, two men on a motorcycle intercepted them near Yug Hospital. Junaid appeared to recognise one of the assailants and called him by the name Salman.Salim recalled that an argument broke out between Junaid and Salman, which quickly escalated into verbal abuse. Suddenly, Salman pulled out a country-made pistol and shot Junaid in the chest.
The attackers then fled the scene on their motorcycle. Junaid collapsed on the road, bleeding profusely, as the sound of the gunshot caused panic among bystanders, who fled in fear. SP City Ayush Vikram Singh stated, "On the basis of the CCTV footage, five accused have been identified. Efforts are underway to locate the absconding individuals. The motive behind the murder will become clear once they are arrested."The officer further stated that, based on a complaint filed by the deceased's father, an FIR has been registered under BNS section 190, Section 191(2), Section 191(3) , and Section 103(1) ....
