Amritsar, May 14 -- As many as 21 people have died after allegedly consuming spurious liquor in Punjab's Amritsar district, police said on Tuesday. Four of six people who had been hospitalised with complications succumbed during treatment. Officers added that nine people, including the alleged kingpin, has been arrested and four government officials have been suspended. The deaths were reported in Bhangali, Patalpuri, Marari Kalan and Therewal villages on Monday night, said officials. A police probe has revealed that methanol was procured in bulk online to prepare the hooch.
