2000 receive free health check-ups in Varanasi
VARANASI, Dec. 15 -- At least 2,000 people received free health check-ups in camps organised at all urban and rural primary health centres in Varanasi district under the Mukhyamantri Arogya Swasthya Mela on Sunday.
The free medicines, expert consultations, and health-related information were given to the people, said chief medical officer Dr Sandeep Chaudhary.
The CMO stated that the objective of the fair was to provide all primary healthcare services to people in rural and urban areas at a single location. Eye examination camps were also organised at four urban primary health centres.
Dr Chaudhary said that along with treatment for common ailments, the fair also provided services for obtaining Ayushman cards, family planning services, and information about various health schemes, so that the general public can avail maximum benefit from government health facilities.
The nodal officer of the fair and additional chief medical officer Dr Sanjay Rai said that under the National Blindness Control Programme, a screening camp for free cataract surgery was organised at Heritage Medical College, Indra Hospital, Birla Hospital, and four urban PHCs.
Approximately 250 people were screened, out of which 67 patients were identified for free cataract surgery. These patients will be admitted and their surgeries will be performed free of charge.
In addition, the fair provided check-ups and medicines for fever, cold and cough, stomach ache, high blood pressure, diabetes, liver problems, and other common ailments, along with information on sanitation, nutrition, immunization, and prevention of diseases like dengue, malaria, and tuberculosis....
