20 members of gang arrested with arms, jailed
PRAYAGRAJ, June 13 -- Armed men stopped construction work through intimidation in Purana Jhunsi Kohna locality under Jhunsi police station on Wednesday night creating panic amongst residents.
On receiving a complaint by the owner of the under construction house, Jhunsi police raided a guest house on Thursday morning and arrested 20 people with illegal arms in Gangadeep Colony of Jhunsi.
Satish Bhartiya, son of Lallan, resident of Purana Jhunsi Kohna, had a land dispute with some people since 2022. Bhartiya and his brother, Ashish, were getting construction work done on the land on Wednesday. Late at night, around 20 people on 10 bikes arrived brandishing weapons. After forcibly stopping the construction work, the accused beat up Ashish. It is alleged that they opened several rounds of fire besides hurling country-made bombs.
On a tip-off, Jhunsi police raided the Shyamlal Samajik Sansthan Guest House in Gangadeep Colony at around 5am on Thursday and arrested all 20 accused.
According to police, several criminal cases were registered against the accused Anurag Singh alias Monu in Jhunsi and Sunil Bhartiya and Ayush Kumar alias Colonel in Tharwai police station.
Police recovered four pistols, country-made bombs, 14 cartridges and 10 bikes from the accused. Police registered a case against the accused on the complaint of Satish Bhartiya and sent them to jail.
According to SHO, Jhunsi police station, Upendra Pratap Singh, the arrested accused were part of a gang which used to intervene in land related disputes and earn money. He said that all the accused were sent to jail....
