2 mowed down by trains in separate incidents
PRAYAGRAJ, Oct. 26 -- Two people were mowed down by trains in separate incidents in Kaushambi and Prayagraj on Saturday. A 35-year-old man was hit by a speeding train near Chamandha village in Kaushambi, while an elderly woman returning from Maihar was struck by a train in Prayagraj, police said.
According to reports, Rajkaran, 35, a resident of Chamandha village under Bharwari Municipal Council in Kaushambi, worked in a private firm in Mumbai and had come home to celebrate Diwali. On Saturday morning, while crossing the railway track outside the village on his way to his farm, he was hit by a train and died on the spot.
In Prayagraj, 75-year-old Dhiraju Devi Pal, a resident of Tiwaripur Karma village under Ghoorpur police station limits, was killed after being hit by a train. She had gone to Maihar with her daughter and son-in-law on Friday to visit the temple and was returning home on Saturday. The passenger train they were travelling in stopped on the outer track east of Ghoorpur's Iradatganj railway station. Passengers reportedly advised Dhiraju Devi to get off there and proceed home via Gauhania. While crossing the railway line, she was struck by the Bombay Mail approaching from Iradatganj side and died instantly. Police sent both bodies for the post-mortem examination....
