Jaipur, Oct. 29 -- Two labourers from Uttar Pradesh were killed and six others were injured when a private sleeper bus caught fire after hitting a high tension power line in Jaipur's Manoharpura, police said. Shahpura DSP, Mukesh Chaudhary said, "The incident took place at 10:30 am on Tuesday when the bus carrying 45 labourers from UP's Bareilly was heading towards a brick kiln in Manoharpura's Toda when it hit a 11,000KV high tension line and caught fire." According to officials, the bus stuffed multiple luggages, two-wheelers, LPG cylinders, and other belongings of the passengers on the roof. "The roof was overloaded and therefore hit the high tension line. Soon, the bus caught fire as LPG cylinders and the engines of the two-wheelers exploded causing the fire," said Chaudhary. At least three LPG cylinders and two two-wheelers have so far been recovered in burnt condition. A local villager, Mahesh, who witnessed the incident, told reporters, "The driver, first stopped the bus 300 to 400 metres away after he noticed the high tension line. But the conductor of the bus pushed him to take it ahead and convinced him that the line was high and the bus's roof would not be able to touch it. When he drove further, it hit the line and the bus caught fire." Soon after the incident, many passengers quickly got off the bus while the locals rescued others. However, two people- Naseem (50) and Saheenam (20) were electrocuted. "Six others were also sent to a local hospital and were referred to Jaipur's Sawai Man Singh (SMS) Hospital considering their serious condition," said Chaudhary. Senior administrative officials, and police teams from Manoharpura and Shahpura police stations reached the spot immediately along with a fire brigade that extinguished the fire in a few hours. "However, no case has so far been lodged. We are probing the matter. We will also question the driver, conductor, local witnesses and other passengers of the bus.
