2 kids die in Kaushambi lightning strike
PRAYAGRAJ, June 21 -- Two children died after being struck by lightning in Jugrajpur village, Kaushambi, on Thursday evening. Two other children sustained injuries in the incident but are said to be out of danger now.
The children - Satish Kumar ,13, son of Shivpuran, Mani ,13, daughter of Phool Kumar, Pawan ,10, son of Jawaharlal, and Deepanjali ,8, daughter of Bhimsen - were grazing goats in a field when lightning struck them.
Family members rushed to the spot after hearing the screams. They took the injured children to a private hospital in Sarai Akil. Doctors there declared Satish and Mani dead. Pawan and Deepanjali received first aid and are now recovering. Police from Sarai Akil police station arrived quickly and sent the bodies of Satish and Mani to the Manjhanpur mortuary for post-mortem examination.
Station house officer Bhuvnesh Chaubey said the incident has been reported to the disaster management department. The process to provide financial help to the families of the deceased has begun.
Amidst arrival of monsoon, wife of a BDC member who was guarding the paddy nursery in Sangramgarh, Pratapgarh died after being struck by lightning.
As per reports, Mannu Devi (51), wife of former Gram Pradhan and presently a BDC member Harilal, resident of Pithanpur village under Sangramgarh police station area, had gone to guard the paddy nursery in the field on Friday morning.
While she was present at her field, lightning struck her causing serious burn injuries to her. The family brought her to the nearest Lalganj CHC where doctors declared her dead....
