Haridwar, May 21 -- Two people were arrested by the Haridwar night patrol team while they were allegedly trying to break open an Automated Teller Machine (ATM) in Kankhal area early Tuesday morning, police said. "The incident occurred at around 2.35 am when patrolling officers noticed a suspicious individual near a parked car outside a Punjab National Bank (PNB) ATM," senior superintendent of police (SSP) Pramendra Dobhal told media at Kankhal police station. "The ATM shutter was down but officers heard unusual noises coming from inside. Acting quickly, the officers locked the shutter from the outside and called for reinforcements from Kankhal police station. When the shutter was opened, two people were found inside attempting to cut open the ATM using a gas cutter. The ATM was partially damaged," he said. The accused have been identified as Kartik Rana (25) from Panipat and Dheeraj Pal (28) from Karnal, both residents of Haryana. "The two accused have been booked under sections 305 (theft in a dwelling house), 324-4 (mischief), 338 (forgery), and 340-2 (using forged documents as genuine) of the BNS," he added.htc...
