2 held for trafficking Indians to Myanmar
New Delhi, Nov. 23 -- Two people have been arrested by Delhi Police's Intelligence Fusion and Strategic Operations (IFSO) unit for their alleged involvement in trafficking of Indian nationals to Myanmar, where they were forced into cyber fraud operations under armed supervision, officers aware of the details said on Saturday.
Police identified the arrested individuals as Danish Raja (24) from Bawana and Harsh (30) from Faridabad. The arrests follow the recent repatriation of several victims rescued by the Myanmar military during a raid on a scam centre last month.
According to police, the investigation began after one of the repatriated victims, Imtiyaz Babu, filed a complaint alleging that he had been lured with the promise of a well-paying overseas data entry job.
They said the victims were trafficked through Kolkata to Bangkok and further transported to Myawaddy in Myanmar using an illegal cross-border route.
The victims were then confined to KK Park, a sprawling scam complex in Myawaddy, where they were assaulted and forced to operate cyber fraud modules targeting US nationals, an officer said on anonymity, adding that armed guards monitored them constantly, and any refusal reportedly resulted in violence or threats.
