LUCKNOW, July 12 -- Mohanlalganj police on Friday arrested two individuals for posing as witnesses in a fraudulent land registration case involving forged documents and impersonation, authorities said. The accused, Ramesh Kumar and Satyanarayan, were arrested from Puranpur Kisan Path bridge area, they added. "The two had allegedly given false testimony during a fake land sale transaction carried out in April 2024, using fabricated documents and a fake Aadhaar card to impersonate the actual landowner," Mohanlalganj ACP Rajneesh Verma said. According to police, the original complaint was filed by Raees Mohammad, a resident of Katra Bakkas area within Sushant Golf City police station limits. He claimed ownership of land parcels in Bakkas village. He learned through a local guard that the land had allegedly been sold. Upon inquiry, it was discovered that on April 16, 2024, a man impersonating him had fraudulently sold the land to one Vikas Singh of Gomti Nagar. The impersonator, Raees Mohammad (son of Mullan) from Dhamedi village in Barabanki, was already arrested in May 2025 for orchestrating the scam. "Investigations revealed that Ramesh, a resident of Barabanki, and Satyanarayan, a painter from Lucknow, had knowingly posed as official witnesses during the fake registration. Both had been on the run since the case was registered under IPC sections 419, 420, 467, 468, and 471," the ACP said....
