197 Agniveers take oath of national service in Varanasi
VARANASI, June 4 -- A total of 197 Agniveers took an oath to serve the nation during a Passing Out Parade held at the Gorkha Training Centre in Varanasi on Tuesday. The parade was reviewed by Brigadier Anirban Datta, Commandant of the 39 Gorkha Training Centre.
The ceremony marked the culmination of 31 weeks of rigorous basic and advanced combat training, transforming spirited young men into disciplined, mentally agile, and battle-hardened soldiers, according to a press release issued by Wing Commander Debartho Dhar, public relations officer at the Ministry of Defence in Prayagraj.
A large number of people, including parents of the passing out Agniveers, distinguished veterans, and eminent personalities from Varanasi attended the event.
For his outstanding performance during training, AV (Agniveer) Karan Bhattarai was awarded with medal for Best in Battle Physical Efficiency Test, while Best in Drill medal was given to AV Arun Tamang, 2nd All Round Best medal was given to AV Suraj Gurung and Best in Tactics and Firing & Overall Best medal was given to AV Vidansh Bisht....
