PRATAPGARH, July 2 -- In a month-long crackdown on organised crime, Pratapgarh police registered 19 cases under the Gangsters Act in June alone, targeting habitual offenders across multiple police stations. A total of 71 criminals were named in these cases, police officials said. In addition to the legal actions, police arrested 13 accused individuals in separate encounters. Among them, 12 were wanted criminals with bounties on their heads-five carrying a Rs 50,000 reward and seven with a Rs 25,000 reward, officials added. A breakdown of the Gangsters Act cases filed across police stations includes: Nagar Kotwali (3 cases); Aaspur Devsara, Delhupur, Dehat Kotwali and Kandhai (2 cases each); and Manikpur, Mandhata, Lalganj, Maheshganj, Kunda, Hathigwan, Baghrai and Sangipur (1 case each). Additionally, two criminal gangs comprising six members were formally listed in the Baghrai and Jethwara areas, officials said. Confirming the development, SP Pratapgarh Anil Kumar stated, "Strict legal action will continue against lawbreakers." As part of intensified surveillance, Pratapgarh police opened history-sheets for 36 individuals across various stations. These include: Fatanpur (8), Nagar Kotwali (6), Antu (5), Raniganj (4), Lalganj, Kunda, and Mandhata (2 each), and Delhupur, Sangipur, Udaipur, Manikpur, and Nawabganj (1 each)....
