PRAYAGRAJ, Dec. 22 -- An 18-year-old girl jumped into the Sai River from the Jamtali bridge on the Patti-Raniganj road after strolling on the bridge for some time in Pratapgarh on Sunday morning. People present at a nearby temple jumped into the river and pulled her out, but she had already died. Dileeppur police sent body for postmortem. As per reports, Antima (18), youngest of five daughters of Rajkumar Pal and a resident of Kathar village under Patti police station, left her home at around 7am on Sunday. She reached the Jamtali bridge over the Sai river on Patti-Raniganj road, about three kilometers away. After strolling on bridge for some time, she jumped into river. Her identity was soon established, and her family members arrived. The family members claimed the girl was mentally ill and took her body home. However, on receiving information, Dileeppur police went to the house of the deceased and sent the body for postmortem. A theft of approximately Rs 1 crore was reported from the house of the grandson of a freedom fighter in Mahmudpur village under Tharwai police station area of Prayagraj on Saturday night. Thieves broke into the house of Dinanath Shukla, grandson of late Babu Ram Shukla, a freedom fighter and stole jewellery and cash worth approximately Rs 1 crore. Dinanath Shukla's family went to sleep after dinner on Saturday night when thieves climbed onto the roof and locked the room doors from inside. They broke open cupboards and boxes in the house and escaped with about 700 grams of gold jewellery, 3.5 kg of silver jewellery and Rs.1.30 lakh in cash, with the total value estimated at around Rs.1 crore. When victim woke up at 4am, he became suspicious upon seeing doors locked from inside. Upon searching the house, he found that the locks of the cupboards and boxes were broken and all Items were scattered in various rooms. Upon receiving information, ACP (Tharwai) Arun Kumar Parashar, SHO of Tharwai police station Santosh Kumar Pandey, along with the dog squad and forensic team, reached the spot. The ACP (Tharwai) Arun Kumar Parashar said that several teams have been deployed to investigate the case. A son killed his father by attacking him with a stick over a minor dispute about feeding the buffalo in Sidh Tikat village of Bara police station area. The police arrested the accused on Sunday. As per reports, Ram Bahadur Yadav (65), resident of Pandit Ka Purwa in Sidh Tikat village of Prayagraj, had a ration shop in the village. His eldest son, Rambabu Yadav, ran the ration shop. According to family members, on Saturday, Ram Bahadur Yadav asked his eldest son, Rambabu Yadav, to feed the buffalo. This led to an argument between the two. It is alleged that Rambabu attacked his father Ram Bahadur with a stick. Seriously injured, Ram Bahadur was admitted to a private hospital in the city by his family members. He died late at night during treatment. The family members returned home with the body on Sunday morning. SHO of Bara police station Vinod Kumar Sonkar said that an FIR had been registered against Rambabu based on a complaint filed by Munesh the younger son of the deceased, and further action will be taken after receipt of postmortem report. htc...
