170 booked for violenceduring protest in Etawah
KANPUR, June 28 -- Police in Etawah have booked 170 people, including 20 named individuals and 150 unidentified protesters, in connection with Thursday's violence in Dandarpur village. Among those named is Gagan Yadav, founder and national president of the Indian Reforms Organisation, whom police have identified as the key instigator behind the unrest, authorities said on Friday.
On Friday, 19 accused were arrested and sent to jail, including the principal of Lala Ram Inter College in Orai Khitora and three teachers from the same institution, according to police. Families of the arrested educators claimed that the police picked them up from the school campus without substantiating their roles in the incident.
Police have invoked multiple sections of the BNS in the FIR, including those for rioting with deadly weapons, unlawful assembly, attempt to murder, criminal conspiracy, and assault on public servants.

The filing of the case enraged members of the Yadav community, who believed the two were being unfairly targeted despite being victims of public humiliation.
On Thursday, hundreds of protesters gathered in Bakewar and blocked the National Highway, demanding action against those responsible for the initial assault. When the group attempted to enter Dandarpur village, they were stopped by police on the Ludhiyani-Nibadikala Road. The confrontation soon turned violent, with protesters pelting the security forces with stones. Several police vehicles were damaged, though personnel exercised restraint, authorities said....
