17-yr-old kidnapped, assaulted; 4 booked
Haldwani, March 28 -- A Class 11 student was allegedly abducted from outside his school gate and brutally assaulted in a forest area in Sitarganj of Udham Singh Nagar district, police said on Friday. Police have registered an FIR against four people and launched an investigation into the incident.
According to police, the complaint was filed by Dipankar Sikdar (17), son of Narottam Sikdar and a resident of Devnagar, who studies in Class 11 at Government Inter College in the Shakti Farm area.
Sitarganj police station in-charge Sundaram Sharma said the incident occurred on Thursday. Dipankar alleged that when he stepped outside the school gate, Sumit Majumdar, a resident of Rabindranath Ward under Shakti Farm Nagar Panchayat, arrived with an accomplice. "The accused allegedly covered the student's mouth and forcibly abducted him," Sharma said.
Police said the accused then took the student to the Van Devi Temple located in the Barakoli range forest area, where two more accomplices were already present.
"The four accused allegedly assaulted the student brutally, causing serious injuries to his head, legs, waist and chest," Sharma said.
After the assault, the accused allegedly fled the spot while threatening to kill the student. The injured student later managed to reach for help and was admitted to the sub-district hospital in Sitarganj, where he is currently undergoing treatment.
Police said a case has been registered against one named accused and three unidentified people, and teams have been formed to trace and arrest them.
"The matter is being investigated from multiple angles, including the possibility of prior enmity and the motive behind the incident," Sharma added....
