Dehradun, May 25 -- A 16-year-old girl, who reportedly went missing from Rajpur in Dehradun on May 19, was found in Mumbai, police said on Saturday, adding that she has been handed over to her family. "On May 19, a missing complaint was filed at the Rajpur police station a woman stating that her 16-year-old daughter had left home without informing anyone and could not be located despite extensive efforts by the family. Based on the complaint, the police registered an FIR under Section 137(2) (Kidnapping) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) at Rajpur police station," said Ajai Singh, Dehradun senior superintendent of police (SSP). He further said that a special team was formed for the recovery of the girl. "The police team gathered information through field inquiries, reviewed CCTV footage from nearby areas, and used mobile surveillance. It also activated local informant networks to aid in the search. Following a tip-off from an informant, the police successfully located the minor girl in Borivali, Mumbai, on Friday."
