Haldwani, Dec. 12 -- A 16-year-old boy allegedly died by suicide in Haldwani on Wednesday, said police, adding that the boy was rushed to two hospitals in the city before he died. The cause of death was determined to be consumption of poison, said a senior police officer aware of the matter. According to Bhupendra Mehta, sub-inspector in charge of the police chowki near the government medical college, the family had recently moved to the city from Bageshwar. The Class 11 student reportedly consumed a poisonous substance, the nature of which has not yet been confirmed, after he came home in the afternoon after playing with friends. After the boy's health began to deteriorate, his sister informed his parents, wherein he was first rushed to a nearby private hospital before being referred to Dr Sushila Tiwari Hospital, where he was declared dead despite doctors' efforts, said Mehta.
