Lucknow, May 5 -- In a crackdown on unauthorised public transport, the transport and traffic police departments launched a joint enforcement drive at Kamta crossing in the city on Saturday. As part of the operation, 16 vehicles operating without valid permits and in violation of transport norms were seized on the spot, officials said. The drive specifically targeted 'daggamar' vehicles-illegally operating vehicles that pick up passengers from the roadside without authorisation. Officials stated that these vehicles were transporting commuters without adhering to permit and registration regulations. Of the 16 vehicles seized, 11 were cars commonly used for informal shuttle services, while the remaining five were passenger buses. "All seized vehicles have been sent to the traffic police yard in Kalli Paschim area for further proceedings," a senior official from the transport department said....
