LUCKNOW, April 23 -- Around 15,000 devotees gathered at Natkur ground in Sarojini Nagar on Wednesday for a large-scale 'Dharm Utsav' and bhajan evening organised by MLA Rajeshwar Singh, turning the venue into a major centre of religious and cultural activity. The event featured devotional performances by singer Kanhaiya Mittal, whose popular bhajans, including "Jo Ram Ko Laaye Hain", drew enthusiastic participation from the crowd. The programme began with a ceremonial lamp lighting, followed by cultural presentations. Addressing the gathering, Singh highlighted efforts to promote religious tourism and local spiritual infrastructure, stating that over 220 temples in the constituency have undergone renovation. He also reiterated his vision to position Sarojini Nagar as a hub of cultural and spiritual identity. Mittal, during his address, proposed organising a 'Shyam Rath Yatra' from Lucknow and setting up a Khatu Shyam temple in the city. Singh accepted both proposals. State finance minister Suresh Khanna was the chief guest. Devotees from across villages and towns of the constituency participated, many of whom had earlier been part of Ram Rath pilgrimage initiatives.
