150th birth anniv of Birsa Munda celebrated
GORAKHPUR, Nov. 16 -- The 150th birth anniversary of Dharti Baba Birsa Munda was celebrated with enthusiasm on Saturday, at the principal chief personnel officer's conference hall and the NE Railway Higher Secondary School, Gorakhpur.
Manoj Kumar, an officer of the North Eastern Railway, offered floral tributes to Birsa Munda. Senior officers and employees also paid homage by offering flowers. Senior personnel officer (headquarters) Gopal Prasad Gupta highlighted the immense contribution of Birsa Munda to the nation and society.
At the NE Railway Higher Secondary School, principal Dr Bir Ji Srivastava, along with teachers, garlanded the portrait and paid floral tributes. Speaking on the occasion, Dr Srivastava said, "Bhagwan Birsa Munda was a revered folk hero of India's tribal communities. He played a significant role in the freedom movement. The tribal society of India worships him as a deity, and his life continues to inspire us all."
Students presented speeches and songs, while teachers discussed his personality and achievements.
In another event held in Maharajganj, Himachal Pradesh governor Shiv Pratap Shukla said that India's rapid progress in education, science, culture, and technology is "inspiring for the world." He praised the development and contributions of the tribal community and paid tribute to tribal freedom fighters, including Birsa Munda, whose sacrifices strengthened the foundation of India's independence.
Shukla urged the youth to remain focused on their goals and to embrace continuous learning. He emphasised that through education and skill development, India can emerge as a "world guru."...
