15-day crackdown on illegal firecracker units, warehouses
LUCKNOW, Sept. 9 -- The state government has launched a 15-day special campaign to crack down on illegal firecracker factories and warehouses across the state, senior police officials said in a press note on Monday. They said the campaign, which began on Sunday (September 7), will run until September 21, and aims to prevent accidents and ensure public safety.
"As part of the campaign, a joint team comprising the sub-divisional magistrate, circle officer, station house officer, and fire department officials concerned will conduct inspections of licensed firecracker factories. The inspections will be videographed, and senior officials, including the additional superintendent of police and additional district magistrate, will review the findings," the officials emphasised.
A senior police official said that the authorities have been directed to focus on several key aspects, including ensuring compliance with safety protocols, preventing child labour, and taking action against unauthorised factories and storage facilities.
He said firecracker sales will be allowed only at designated locations, and vendors will be required to maintain a safe distance from residential areas.
In case of any accidents or incidents, the responsibility will be fixed, and action will be taken against the concerned officials.
The Uttar Pradesh government has issued detailed guidelines for the campaign, and have directed the authorities to take strict action against any violations and to ensure that the campaign is implemented effectively....
