133 booked for blocking road, holding protest over goldsmith's murder
PRAYAGRAJ, Aug. 19 -- A case has been registered against 13 named and 120 unidentified people involved in the road blockade after the murder of goldsmith Aman Soni in Prayagraj on Sunday afternoon. The case was lodged on Monday at Mauaima police station.
Aman Soni, 24, a resident of Ramana Mani Umarpur (Amanganj) under Mauaima police station area, was stabbed with a knife near a canal in Kaluapur Majra of Harakhpur village on Sunday afternoon. He owned a jewellery shop in Baradih and took orders for preparing jewellery for weddings and other occasions. By the time locals rushed to the spot after hearing his screams, the assailants had already slit his throat and thrown his body into the canal.
One of the accused, Shubham,19, resident of Baradih under Mauaima police station, was caught by villagers. He had revealed that Aman had been killed over a money-related dispute. During a heated argument between Aman and one Prem Kumar, 20, the latter assaulted him. As people rushed towards the spot, Prem Kumar and another accused, Dhirendra Kumar, 22 of the same village slit Aman's throat, dumped his body in the canal, and fled on a bike.
Based on a complaint filed by the victim's father, a case had been registered against Prem Kumar, Dhirendra Kumar, and Shubham under relevant sections on Sunday evening.
Upset over the same, family and relatives of the deceased had protested on the Prayagraj-Faizabad road against this incident.
The protestors had stuck to their demand for arresting all the accused and remained on the highway till 3pm, while the police kept trying to convince them. During the protest, vehicles for over a kilometer on the highway were stranded, including three ambulances for over two hours. ACP (Phulpur) Pankaj Lavania said that a case has been registered in the matter of road blockade against 13 named and 120 unidentified people and action will be taken against all the accused on the basis of video footage. htc...
