13-year-old dies after playing PUBG for hours
LUCKNOW, Oct. 16 -- A 13-year-old boy died under mysterious circumstances after reportedly playing the online game PUBG for several hours on Wednesday. The incident took place in Kharagpur village, under the Indira Nagar police station area.
The deceased had been playing the mobile game continuously since morning while on a day off from work. According to police, the boy was employed at a local shop near Mayawati Colony and was on his monthly leave. "He had been playing PUBG since morning without a break. Around 6 pm, he suddenly collapsed while still holding the phone," said one his sisters. Another sister and their mother were at her native place.
The family suspects he may have consumed a poisonous substance, although this has not yet been confirmed. The police are awaiting the post-mortem report to determine the exact cause of death. The boy lived with his elderly mother, four sisters, and a younger brother. His father had passed away a few years ago.
SHO Sunil Kumar Tiwari said, "The boy's family mentioned he had been playing PUBG for several hours. We have seized the mobile phone and are examining it. The cause of death is still under investigation."
The police have not ruled out the possibility of medical complications or psychological stress due to prolonged gaming. Further action will depend on the post-mortem findings....
