VARANASI, May 3 -- The 125-year-old Chowk police station in Varanasi has been renovated and beautified, preserving its historical architecture while upgrading its facilities. As part of the makeover, a new entrance gate, air-conditioned visitor room, landscaped park and other amenities have been added. Located in the vicinity of the Baba Shri Kashi Vishwanath Temple, the renovated station is expected to become a point of attraction for the lakhs of devotees who visit the area. The heritage building was formally inaugurated on Friday by commissioner of police Mohit Agarwal, in the presence of additional commissioner of police (law and order and headquarters) S Channappa and additional commissioner of police (crime) Rajesh Kumar Singh.
