PRAYAGRAJ, June 19 -- At least 12 people were injured in a clash between supporters of a gram pradhan and a block development committee (BDC) member in Dilippur Nauhar Hussainpur village on Wednesday evening, police said. As per reports, BDC member Pramod Singh had complained against Bharat Singh, the gram pradhan of Dilippur Nauhar Hussainpur, accusing him of irregularities in MNREGA-related works. Tensions escalated further over a financial dispute between the two groups. On Wednesday evening, the two parties entered into a confrontation over an alleged money demand. The altercation escalated, leading to people from both sides attacking each other with sticks and axes, police said. There were also reports of firing, leaving Surendra Pratap Singh, 45, and Rohit Singh, 20, besides Pratima Singh, Poonam Singh, Nitish Singh, Monu and Nagendra injured from the gram pradhan's side, and Vinod Singh, Ajay Singh, Kamla Singh, Punita and Sharda Singh from the BDC member's side. CO (city) Shivnarayan reached the medical college, where the injured were admitted, with Vaish Nagar Kotwali police personnel and incharges of several outposts. The CO said no party had submitted a written complaint yet, and that there was a dispute between the two sides over elections and monetary transactions....
