GORAKHPUR, Sept. 14 -- A Class 6 student was found murdered in the hostel of a residential school in the Hata town of Kushinagar on Friday, police said. The 11-year-old boy was found hanging. However, police, citing the postmortem report, said this was a case of murder. Meanwhile, police registered an FIR against school principal Awdhesh Dwivedi, former principal Sudhanshu Pandey, and two others under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Two of the accused have been detained for interrogation. Circle officer (Hata) Kundan Singh stated the body was discovered hanging from a staircase with a cloth tied around his neck. As per officials, the boy returned to his hostel room after study hours and dinner on Thursday night. He was found dead the next day. The boy, who hailed from Deoria district, was the grandson of a police sub-inspector in Varanasi. He was recently admitted to the residential school. The incident triggered protests on Saturday as students and parents gathered outside the school, accusing the administration of negligence and demanding swift justice.
