10-yr-old boy found dead in Sonbhadra
VARANASI, May 11 -- The body of a 10-year-old boy was found on the outskirts of Jugail town under Jugail police station area of Sonbhadra district, police said on Saturday.
The incident came to light when locals found his blood-soaked body, with several injury marks, in a field outside the town. The deceased was identified as Kaptan, a resident of Jugail, said police.
According to his family members, he went missing on Friday afternoon. They were searching for him, but he could not be traced.
Additional superintendent of police (ASP) Kalu Singh, along with circle officer (CO) Harsh Pandey and field unit reached the spot and gathered information about the incident. The body was sent for post mortem.
Based on the complaint by deceased's father, a case under section 101 (murder) of the BNS against unidentified assailant has been registered. ASP Singh stated that two teams have been deployed to work out the case and ensure arrest of the accused. Postmortem report is awaited. Investigation is going on.
Two men aged 22 years were killed in a road accident in the Ahirauli area of Kushinagar district on Saturday, police said.
Identified as Vishal Madheshiya and Vivek Kumar, both were engineering students who were returning home after writing an exam when they were struck by a tractor-trolley, police added.
According to Sanjay Dubey, the station house officer of Hata, while Vishal died on the spot, Vivek succumbed to his injuries at Baba Raghav Das (BRD) Medical College in Gorakhpur. The bodies had been sent for postmortem, and the tractor-trolley seized. Efforts were underway to arrest the driver, he added.
In another accident, Kailash Singh (55) was killed and his younger brother, Chandra Bhan Singh, was seriously injured when a speeding dumper hit their motorcycle on Captanganj-Hata Road on Friday. The brothers were returning to their village from Maharajganj when the accident occurred.
In a tragic incident, the 12-year-old son of additional district magistrate (ADM) -civil supply-Vijay Sharma died in a road accident outside the Circuit House under the Civil Lines police station area on Friday night.
As per reports, Sharma was transferred to Prayagraj in December 2024, but due to the non-availability of official accommodation at the Teliyarganj officers' colony, he had been staying at the Circuit House for the past four months.
District supply officer (DSO), Prayagraj, Sunil Singh, informed that on Friday night, after having dinner, Vijay Sharma, along with his wife and son, stepped out of the Circuit House around 10.30 pm for a stroll.
Meanwhile, the child saw an ice cream vendor across the road opposite the Circuit House and rushed towards him. At that moment, a car heading towards the High Court hit the boy, leaving him unconscious. The driver fled the scene after the accident.
Though the critical child was admitted at SRN hospital, he succumbed to his injuries. The child's body was cremated at Rasulabad Ghat on Saturday.
SHO, Civil Lines police station, Ramashray Yadav, confirmed the child's death but said that no case had been registered as no complaint had been received from the ADM.
A man allegedly battered his 55-year-old mother to death following an argument between her and his wife in Sonaran Ka Purva village in Kaushambi, police said on Saturday. The accused, identified as Mohammed, was absconding and a manhunt had been launched for him, they added.
As per reports, Mohammed got married three years ago and started living separately with his wife in Bichhaura village, while his mother, Mehrunnisa (55), lived with her younger son.
Manjhanpur Kotwali police have sent the body for a postmortem and further probe is ongoing.
Reports said that Mohammad's wife and his mother had an argument at around 4pm on Saturday, upset over which he repeatedly hit his mother with a brick before absconding.
Upon being informed, CO (city) Shivank Singh and Manjhanpur SHO Sanjay Tiwari reached the village and sent the body for the post-mortem examination. The SHO said the accused was absconding, and a case of "unintentional murder" had been registered against him based on a complaint by his younger brother, Sonu....
