10-year-old tied to tree, thrashed brutally over theft suspicion
Meerut, Nov. 16 -- A 10-year-old boy was tied to a tree and brutally assaulted by locals who accused him of theft, near Nehrupur Chungi, in Khurja town of Bulandshahr district. The video of the child being abused went viral on social media, triggering outrage. According to eyewitness Rahul Kumar, a crowd had gathered near the Chungi area on Saturday afternoon. When he went to check, he saw the young boy tied to a tree with a rope. Several people were hurling abuses at him and physically assaulting him.
Alerted by locals, a police team rushed to the spot, freed the child from the restraints, and took him to safety. One of the accused involved in the assault was detained on the spot. Both the child and the detained man were taken to the Khurja Kotwali police station.The boy's family was informed, and his mother, Rajiya, arrived at the police station, where she lodged a formal complaint. Based on her written statement, a case was registered against the accused. Local residents identified the man as Lalit Saini, reportedly associated with a local right wing organisation.
SP (Rural) Dr Tejveer Singh said, "The child has been freed and handed over to his family from Duddupur village. Based on the complaint by the child's mother, a case has been registered against accused Lalit Saini. He has been arrested and is being sent to jail," he said.htc...
