Meerut, Aug. 26 -- At least 10 people, including two children, were killed and 41 others were injured after a truck rammed into a tractor-trolley carrying pilgrims in Bulandshahr district of Uttar Pradesh on Monday, police said. According to police, the incident took place around 2.10am near the Arnia bypass on the Bulandshahr-Aligarh border when a canter truck hit the tractor-trolley from behind, causing it to overturn. The tractor-trolley, with 61 passengers, was travelling from Rafatpur village in Kasganj district to Jaharpeer in Rajasthan for a pilgrimage. "Eight people died on the spot, and one more succumbed to injuries during treatment," senior superintendent of police (rural) Dinesh Kumar Singh said. Later, another person died during treatment.
